Momenteel volg ik de online lessen over abstract schilderen bij Creative Bug en die inspireren mij om buiten mijn schetsboeken te schilderen zoals op canvas bord. Ik had nog een stuk of zes onaffe borden staan en ben met die zes tegelijkertijd bezig. Ze zijn allemaal in verschillende stadia, maar deze vind ik nu “af”. Ik merk dat er altijd nog wel wat aan te doen valt, maar aan dit werk is praktisch niets meer dat me ‘stoort’.
Er zitten vele lagen op het bord, ik zou ze echt niet meer kunnen tellen, maar dat is ook het leuke van acryl: als het niet lukt of als iets je niet bevalt, ga je er gewoon overheen. Dat geeft rust en ruimte om te experimenteren, totdat je tevreden bent met het schilderij.
At the moment I’m following the Daily Abstract Painting Prompts at Creative Bug and they’ve inspired me to work out of my sketchbook and on to canvas board for instance. I still had about six unfinished boards lying around and I working on all six of them simultaneously. They are all in different stages of processing, but this one I consider ‘finished’. I notice that usually there is always something to add or change to a painting, but there is practically nothing in this piece that bothers me.
There are countless layers on this piece and that is the fun of acrylic: if you don’t like it you just paint over it. That gives piece of mind and room for experimentation until you are satisfied with your painting.
