We went to IJmuiden the other day on our motorcycle. IJmuiden is a Dutch harbor town with lots of activity, ships, fish markets and other nautical elements. We found a spot where old anchors were lying ashore, apparently waiting for their new owners. This site filled us with enormous inspiration: K. for new ideas for his metal art and me for my photography and painting. I loved seeing all these rusty surfaces, shapes and textures. Wouldn’t it be great to use these photographs as starting points for new paintings? It’s a spot we will return to for sure.
