Third mini assignment for MATS bootcamp 2019

watercolor green chawan

The third mini assignment was to sketch or paint Japanese tea cups or ‘chawan’ and showing lots of textures. If you look up chawan on pinterest you find that the cups are often quite rough and have a ‘lived’ look. The upper image is done in watercolor and I added salt to create texture. The image on the bottom is a collage of handmade papers using a gelli plate and acrylic paint. The cups have lots of texture caused by several layers of paint.
