A couple of pages from a handmade simple art journal made out of wipe-off sheets of paper. I added lots of patterns, doodles, paint smeares, stencilling and collage scraps that were kaying about.
When I’m not in the mood for a project I like to fill these kind of art journals, no pressure, anyghing goes, I’m just getting paint on paper. it’s very satisfying because it doesn’t have to be anyghing, become a framed piece or an example for a workshop. It’s just play and learning about colour and composition along the way.

Workshop Eenvoudige patronen schilderen in aquarel. We beginnen met een aantal basistechnieken van aquarel zodat je beter met patronen kunt spelen. Daarna ga je zelf aan de slag. We experimenteren met diverse vormen en kleurcombinaties. We passen hierbij mindfulness toe door langzaam te schilderen en aanwezig te zijn in het moment. Een heerlijke onthaastmiddag, een kado voor jezelf of en met anderen.

I ordered a couple of teatowels from the botanical design I made in May and they turned out gorgeous. A few will be gifted to friends and the rest I will keep for the Open Studios later this month.
I had them printed at @houseofufashionprinting on 100% cotton.

Impression of yesterday’s market in the beautiful big hall of the @beursvanberlageofficial during their annual Open Day. It was fabulous! Friends and family came by as well as people that were interested in our work. We had engaging conversations, I gave Gelli plate demos and we were well taken care of by our host with plenty of drinks and bites during the day. I sold smaller pieces and gave away lots of flyers for my workshops.

Last week I took an in person art class at MK Atel

Last week I took an in person art class at MK Ateliers in Amsterdam. Every day we were inspired by another painter, like David Hockney, Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, Yayoi Kusama and our very own Vincent van Gogh. The class was taught by the lovely @ellisdoesillustration
Our subjects were landscape and botanicals. Botanicals are my go-to subject so I was very happy with this Summer course. We learned how each artist stood out and what their technique was. We looked at flowers, perspective, line quality and patterns.
These there paintings are my favorites, obviously inspired by Matisse and Kusama.

I’ve taken a break from social media this Summer s

I’ve taken a break from social media this Summer so I could really enjoy my holidays. It can be such a burden sometimes and from now on I would like to take it easier on myself and only post when I want to instead of have to.
I also didn’t make a lot of art in the past two months or so, but I feel my mojo is slowly coming back.
@jenniferwilkinpenick inspired me to make a few brown paper bag journals. I had a couple of them stored (I keep so much stuff) for an occasion and this is a perfect time to make them. One of them is prepped, one is not and the third one was pink which I am going to keep as a background colour.
How was your Summer sofar? Over here it’s been quite hot.
