I’ve always loved books: reading, flipping through magazines with beautiful prints, creating photo books and art journals. The smell of paper, ink, and paint, the physical sensation of leafing through pages and looking at beautiful things—it still brings me joy, and I would like to share that feeling with you.
In this workshop, I’ll teach you how to make a simple book in just one afternoon. Using examples, I’ll first explain the possibilities of creating different books from a single sheet of A4 paper, without using needle and thread. Then, you’ll get to work on this principle yourself with a large sheet of paper. You can choose between a fully folded book without gluing or a concertina-style book.

We’ll work with acrylic paint, acrylic markers, pens, and pencils, and experiment with various techniques like collage, stenciling, stamping, scraping, and line drawing. We’ll do all this on a large sheet of paper, which we’ll then fold into a booklet. A wonderfully creative and inspiring afternoon!
Level: for beginners and advanced students.

Bring along
- Old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty (I’ll provide a few aprons).
- Optional: Bring your own visual material that you’d like to incorporate into the booklet, such as (old) photos, souvenirs, receipts, illustrations or magazine photos/wrapping paper that you like, drawings or paintings you’ve made yourself but would like to use in some other way. Anything is welcome. Bring materials that bring you joy and perhaps even think about a theme for the booklet.
- Optional: If you prefer to use your own brushes and/or paint, feel free to bring them.
